C-Section-How To Speed Recovery & Minimize Scaring

First: keep the area dry and clean!

It is very important to keep you incision clean to prevent infection, but also very important to keep you incision clean. So clean your incision daily with soapy water, but then immediately pat it dry.

If your doctor used tape strips on your incision, do not pull them off, but let them fall off naturally.

Second: Avoid activities that cause pain

Don't do any movements that strain the region, but don't over baby it. Keep moving. If you don't use it you loose it. Plus, if you don't keep moving, and walk every day, not only will you get weaker, but you will be at risk of blood clots.

Walk every day, but rest if you are tired.

Avoid these activities until released from your doctor:

  • sex
  • using tampons
  • Douche
  • take baths
  • rigorous activity or exercises
  • crash diet (you need nutrients to heal)

IF YOU HAVE TO COUGH OR SNEEZE,
SUPPORT YOUR INCISION
If you have to cough or sneeze, hold a pillow over your incision to prevent damage.

Avoid constipation!

Seriously! If you get constipated, you may have to strain to have a bowel movement, and this can cause damage to the incision. So eat plenty of fiber and avoid constipating foods like cheese.

Drink plenty of water. Take a fiber supplement daily if you tend to have constipation or to be on the safe side.
